Mayor Scott Jackson of Hamden, who last week completed work as chairman of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s Sandy Hook Advisory Commission, is expected to be named to a top post in the governor’s budget unit, the Office of Policy Management, according to several informed sources.

A Tuesday announcement is expected for Jackson’s appointment as OPM undersecretary for intergovernmental policy, a six figure salary job dealing with issues involving Connecticut 169 cities and towns.

He reportedly be in charge of OPM Intergovernmental Policy Division, which has 19 employees and now is headed by an acting director.

The Malloy administration declined comment Monday on whether Jackson will be named to the post. Jackson could not be reached.

Jackson, 43, a Democrat in his third two year term as Hamden’s mayor, has served for the past two years as chairman of the commission named in 2013 by the governor to investigate the shooting of 20 first graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on Dec. 14, 2012.

The commission submitted its final report last week to Malloy, recommending increased efforts by the state in an ill funded and behavioral health system. Sandy Hook killer, 20 year old Adam Lanza, shot himself in the head as police arrived at the school. Before driving to the school, he killed his mother at their Newtown home.
